Although this is an annual US anniversary honoring the members
of the Armed Forces that fought for and defended freedom around the world, Albania
and some Albanians are also in the news on this day. They played a part during
the conflicting times of WWII, and can share their sacrifices in the name of liberty
and self-determination.
One particular incident, well remembered by Albanians in
Albania, and talked about when foreigners visit the country’s historical sites
and see some of the ruins of war, came to light abroad only in more recent
years, as described in this article, and, apparently, even a book has been
written about it.
