The weather forecast yesterday morning was promising light snow, followed by rain, and freezing conditions for the last day of 2005 in NY City. Although all this turned out to be true by the middle of the afternoon, the day actually ended up quite differently, with milder than expected temperature, and not even a strong wind typical of this city. Going out, therefore, was not an hassle at all.
The party I attended went well. The company was small (we were all mature guests), but well amalgamated, intimate, and cheerful, with a variety of food, drinks, and plentiful goodies that made the evening fly by very quickly. The midnight famous "dropping of the ball" at Times Square was watched on TV while sipping a perfectly chilled Italian "Asti spumante".
Getting back home was also quite easy and expeditious. At 2 am the traffic was flowing nicely along the avenues, and many revelers were pleasantly walking enjoying the clement weather, while working out the effect of the evening glut.
Good bye 2005....and welcome 2006, with all of our propositions, hopes and dreams!
